Certified Financial PlannerĀ® Managing Portfolios for Clients in Naperville and Throughout the Chicago Area

Whether you already have accumulated substantial wealth or are on your way toward financial security, you need trustworthy, intelligent management to ensure that your assets are working for you. With such a range of available options, managing your investment portfolio on your own can be overwhelming and difficult to monitor. The good news is that a Certified Financial Planner® (CFP®) can assist you in making fully informed decisions as you focus on meeting your financial objectives.

At The Krajniak Group, we offer investment management services informed by years of financial experience. We will work with you in identifying and understanding the investment choices that will best help you meet your short-term and long-term needs. As a CFP® professional, Matt Krajniak will always put your needs and best interests first, and you can depend on him and his team to remain at your side every step of the way.

Diversification of Your Portfolio

One of the primary keys to a strong investment strategy is an intentional diversification of your investments. It is important to find a good balance between preserving your assets and growing your investments, and the right balance is based on your specific needs and willingness to accept financial risks. As we work together with you in developing your investment strategy, we will explain the pros and cons of all types of asset classes, from individual equities and ETFs, to mutual funds, to annuities, and real estate among others. We can help you decide how best to manage your assets, as well as what types may be appropriate at different times in your journey.

For many investors, mutual funds are convenient and well-balanced, giving them the ability to diversify while managing risk without having to make decisions on each specific asset. We certainly use our fair share (no pun intended) with many of our clients… but they aren't the only option, and they aren't always the most efficient means of building your portfolio and managing it form a tax perspective. If your current portfolio or advisor doesn't have the option to include ETFs, individual stocks and bonds, and other tools such as variable annuities and alternative investments, you may be missing out.

Diversification also goes deeper than just owning 10 or so funds. In evaluating client portfolios (whether we manage the funds or if you're asking for a second opinion on an account elsewhere), one of the tools we use is a correlation matrix. If you have 10 mutual funds with 3 different financial institutions… but they all invest in the same stocks… you may find you aren't as diversified as you may think. The key is to evaluate various asset classes such as foreign vs. domestic equities, different types of real estate, large vs. small, and different durations and styles of fixed income (among others). Our process equips us to help you design and maintain a portfolio that is as efficient and effective as possible based on what you're trying to accomplish.

It may come as a shock that this next sentence is coming from someone who gets paid to manage investments, but the truth is that it is not possible to beat the stock market consistently except through a string of lucky guesses. We believe that any argument to the contrary is at best not completely accurate and at worst self-serving. However… while it's not a simple task to beat a benchmark, it is incredibly easy to lose to the market with an inefficient or improperly managed portfolio. Choosing an appropriate benchmark (or creating a custom one) is key, followed by long-term tracking of your portfolio against that benchmark. Let us help you understand what your investment portfolio can and can't do, and how to set it up to most efficiently match your goals, time frame, and tolerance for risk.
